WRITERS’ SECRETS: HOW TWO WRITERS OVERCAME THE BARRIERS TO COMPLETING THEIR BOOKS

Join writers Catherine Cole and Jenny Newman for this unique writing workshop as part of the Smithdown Litfest.

This session is all about becoming a writer and sustaining your writing practice, how to write, what write and what skills and techniques to use. Jenny and Catherine talk about their books – and also offer tips all the way through the talk on overcoming any problems with character, dialogue, place and narrative drive. This will be followed by some time for audience questions.

Catherine Cole is the former Professor in Creative Writing in The Screen School, Liverpool John Moores University where she is also a member of the university’s Board of Governors. She is an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Wollongong in Australia. She has published four novels, two non-fiction books and a memoir. Her poetry, short stories, essays and reviews have been published in Australia and internationally and produced by BBC Radio 4.
