Ann Cleeves

Bestseller Ann Cleeves is one of Britain’s most successful crime fiction authors. With over five million copies sold worldwide, her bestselling books are loved in print and on screen: the Vera Stanhope, Two Rivers and Shetland series are now major TV adaptations on ITV and BBC One respectively.

In 2017 Ann was awarded the highest accolade in crime writing, the CWA Diamond Dagger. Ann is also a passionate champion for libraries and was a National Libraries Day Ambassador in 2016.

Ann Cleeves entertained a packed out Ullet Road Unitarian Church for her 2024 event being interviewed by Professor Catherine Cole. This was the second time Ann has appeared at the Smithdown Litfest and we were delighted to welcome her back.
