Anthony Quinn

Born in Liverpool, Anthony Quinn started out as a freelance writer in London and contributed to The Observer, Guardian, Sunday Times, New York Times, Esquire and Marie Claire. He was for fifteen years the film critic of the Independent (1998-2013). Having been a judge on the 2006 Man Booker Prize he wrote his first novel the following year: the two events may have been related. The Rescue Man (2009) won the Authors’ Club Best First Novel Award. Since then he has written nine others, including Curtain Call (2015). A film of Curtain Call, titled The Critic was released starring Ian McKellen and Gemma Arterton.

Anthony Quinn and Ragnhild Lund Ansnes chatted all things LFC and Klopp in front of an engaged audience in beautiful Mossley Hill Church.

We welcomed Anthony back to the Smithdown Litfest in 2025 to talk about his book on Kevin Keegan. He was interviewed once again by Ragnhild Lund Ansnes, this time at spectacular St Bridget and St Thomas Church in Bagot Street.
