Freddie Mercury

The Way With Words exhibition celebrates notable people with a connection to the local area who found success with a career in words.

Freddie Mercury lived in a flat above the Dovedale Towers pub just two years before becoming the lead singer of Queen.

Freddie Mercury was born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar (now part of Tanzania). He found international fame as the lead singer of Queen, and was a hugely successful singer, songwriter and record producer. Since his death, Freddie Mercury has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the UK Music Hall of Fame.
