Holly Johnson

The Way With Words exhibition celebrates notable people with a connection to the local area who found success with a career in words.

Holly Johnson was born and grew up in Wavertree.

William “Holly” Johnson found international fame and acclaim in the 1980s as the lead singer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. He went on to top the charts again in a solo career. Since the 1990s, Holly has also found success as a painter, exhibiting at the Tate Liverpool and the Royal Academy. His autobiography, A Bone in My Flute, was published in 1994 to critical acclaim.
