The Way With Words exhibition celebrates notable people with a connection to the local area who found success with a career in words.

Paul McCartney lived in Allerton during his childhood.

Sir James Paul McCartney achieved global recognition as co-lead singer, co-songwriter, and bassist for the Beatles. He followed this with a hugely successful career with the band Wings and a solo performer. Sir Paul is also well known for his support of many good causes including animal rights and music education. He has 18 Grammy Awards, has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, and has an MBE and a knighthood. Sir Paul, alongside Mark Featherstone-Witty, co-founded The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) in 1996.
